  • Description: This seminar examines the highly complex network of temporary public policies and Ministerial Instructions that govern work permit eligibility and issuance in Canada. Designed for senior practitioners, the session focuses on recent 2026 reforms, including the June 5, 2026 temporary policy for prospective permanent residence candidates in Quebec and their spouses, the March 26, 2026 policy for ineligible asylum claimants, and the April 1, 2026 policy facilitating extensions for Ukrainians under previous authorizations. We will also master specialized LMIA-exempt pathways, including policies for out-of-status construction workers in the GTA, H-1B visa holder exemptions, spousal work permit policies, post-graduation work permit (PGWP) open work permits, and employer compliance reviews under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program.

    • Deconstruct and apply the June 5, 2026 temporary public policy for Quebec prospective permanent residence candidates and spouses.
    • Implement the March 26, 2026 open work permit pathway for refugee claimants ineligible to be referred to the IRB.
