  • Description: This 2.5-hour session is a deep dive into Temporary Resident Permits (TRPs), focusing on overcoming criminal and medical inadmissibility. The course equips RCICs with the strategies necessary to prepare compelling, evidence-based TRP applications, emphasizing the critical importance of submission letters and documentary evidence to justify a client's need to enter or remain in Canada.

Learning Objectives:

  • Apply foundational knowledge to assess client eligibility and justification for a TRP, including understanding associated Work Permit (WP) and Study Permit (SP) pathways.
  • Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving to formulate strong, evidence-based application strategies to overcome complex medical and criminal inadmissibility hurdles.
  • Demonstrate effective written advocacy by drafting highly persuasive submission letters that articulate compelling reasons for TRP issuance against the risks to Canadian society.
  • Engage in evidence-based practice by compiling and organizing critical supporting documentation to strengthen the TRP application package.
  • Provide accurate client counselling regarding the post-approval landscape, including advising on timelines, compliance conditions, and future TRP extension strategies.
