CPDHouse.org (Operating as P.D.L.E.S. and Canadian Career Education College) provides accredited and substantive legal education specifically designed to satisfy the annual requirements of Law Societies across Canada. Below is a brief overview of the 2026 reporting requirements and tips for efficient compliance.
| Jurisdiction | Total Hours Required | Mandatory Content | Deadline |
| Ontario (LSO) | 12 Hours | 3 Professionalism Hours (includes 1 EDI Hour) | Dec 31, |
| British Columbia (LSBC) | 12 Hours | 2 Hours (Ethics, Practice Mgmt, or Client Care) | Dec 31, |
| Alberta (LSA) | Varies | Mandatory Annual CPD Plan submission | Oct 1, |
| Other Jurisdictions | 12 Hours (Avg) | Varies by province (Reciprocal rules apply) | Dec 31, |
Prioritize Accredited Content Early: While substantive hours can often be self-reported, Professionalism and EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion) hours must be from an accredited provider. Secure these hours early to avoid the December rush.
Leverage Reciprocity: If you are called in multiple provinces, remember that under the Federation of Law Societies of Canada’s National Mobility Agreement, credits earned from an accredited provider in one province (like an LSO-accredited program) are generally accepted in others.
Dual-Credit for Specializations: For LSO Certified Specialists, remember that you now require an additional 10 hours in your specialty area in addition to the standard 12-hour requirement. Look for courses that fulfill both a substantive need and your specialty niche.
New Sole Practitioner? If you are declaring as a sole practitioner for the first time in reporting year, ensure you complete the mandatory Foundations of Sole Practice course. Completing this allows for a unique "carry-over" benefit of hours into the next reporting year.
Audit-Proof Your Records: Law Societies are increasing random audits. Ensure you download and save your Agenda and Certificate of Completion for every session. Your digital profile on CPDHouse.org stores these, but local backups are highly recommended.
Utilize On-Demand Learning: Don't wait for live sessions that conflict with your court dates. Archived Video CPD is fully recognized for credit, provided there is a mechanism for self-study or reflection (such as our integrated quizzes/agendas).
Registration & Payments
Q: How do I register for a CPD event at the regular fee? A: Click the link for your desired course and follow the on-screen instructions. We currently accept Visa and Mastercard via our secure online portal.
Q: Was my credit card payment successful? A: Log into your CPD House profile and check your "Audit Log" for invoices. If you saw a green "Successful" message but a red/yellow "Payment Failed" message, your registration went through but the payment was declined. Please try a different card or contact your bank.
Q: How do I use my in-house credit? A: Log into your profile before selecting a new event. During the payment stage, choose the option to apply your existing in-house credit. If you have difficulty, email support with the event name, and we will apply it manually.
Q: Can I get a refund or cancel an event? A: Please review our [Refund and Registration Policy] and submit your request via Refund Form R.
Account & Access
Q: How do I retrieve past invoices or update my profile? A: Log into your CPD House profile using the email address you used at registration. Go to your profile page to view payments, invoices, and update information. Your credit card statement is also a valid alternate proof of payment.
Q: I can't log into my account. What should I do? A: Ensure you are using the correct email address. If problems persist, please refer to our [Support Policy and Options] link.
Event Materials & Instructions
Q: Why haven't I received my invoice or event instructions? A: Our system sends these instantly via email. If you don't see them, check your Spam/Junk folder. It is the registrant's responsibility to monitor these folders and ensure their email address is entered correctly.
Q: I lost my agenda or course documentation. How do I get another copy? A: For live sessions, these are in your confirmation email; notes follow within 12–24 business hours. For video sessions, use the download link in your confirmation email. If you have deleted the email, you may request a duplicate via our [Support Page].
Q: I cannot find the login link for my video or webinar. A: This information is located within your original registration confirmation email. Please read the instructions carefully before requesting a duplicate copy.
Technical & Video Troubleshooting
Q: How do I play my Video CPD online? A: Your instructional email contains two steps: a link to a secured page and a Secure Password (provided in ALL CAPS). Note: This is different from your profile login password. Once on the page, click the play button in the middle of the video box.
Q: Why won't the video play? A: We test all videos daily. 99% of issues are related to local internet speed, browser type, or computer hardware. Ensure you have a stable connection and are using a modern browser. If the page says "Video not available," the event may be scheduled for a future date; videos typically go live 24 business hours after the live session.
Q: My video password isn't working. A: This usually happens after multiple failed attempts or if the event has expired. If your event is still active, please contact us via the [Support Ticket Form].
Compliance & Reporting
Q: How do I claim my CPD credits? A: Visit your regulator’s website (CICC) and follow their specific reporting instructions.
Q: Why didn't I receive credits from the regulator? A: Please contact your regulator directly to inquire. If the issue is related to CPD House documentation, send us a copy of their response via a support ticket.
Q: If I attend a live webinar, can I watch the video recording later? A: Live and Video formats are sold as separate events. Registration for a live event does only provide access to the live session. To view the recording later, a separate video registration is required.
Support Response Time
Q: I submitted a ticket but haven't heard back. Why? A: We respond to all valid support tickets within 12–24 business hours. Please check your Spam/Junk folders for our reply before submitting a new ticket.
